Where Imagination Has Lease

Last updated: December 18, 1998

Hello, and welcome to my home on the Internet! Since this *is* in a Science Fiction area and all, I will mention some science-fiction-y things now. Other links follow below; those may or may not be related to science fiction.

I hope that you have a nice time looking at the various sections that I have here! :) I've added a link to my Iwk Page. Please be warned: it is extremely grouchy!

A note about my little Internet home. These pages, except for the Reading pages and the Music pages, are very Lynx-friendly. That means few graphics and few... well, *things* in general.

I am enrolled in the Amazon Associates Program, which means that there are direct links to the Amazon.com site from one or more of my pages. To purchase a book from Amazon.com, which is an online bookstore with an esxtensive collection, you can go to my Reading page, then to the Amazon page. I don't have specific books to recommend right now, but I'm hoping to get that done sometime in the near future. Like sometime before the Beginning of the Twenty First Century. Please keep your eyes crossed (keeping your fingers crossed while typing is a very bad idea... as I have reason to know).

Oh, yes, science fiction. I first began to read science fiction when I was fifteen years old; I had found Prelude to Foundation by Isaac Asmiov at the library, and I read it over the course of a week. After that, I was hooked. Finishing off the Asimov novels by the time I was halfway through my senior year in high school, I had already embarked on a traipse around the galaxy with Douglas Adams's Hitch-Hiker's trilogy. Arthur C. Clarke was not far behind; and, meanwhile, I had begun to read some short stories of assorted other writers as well.

The turning point came, for me, in college. Many of my classmates, for reasons which still elude me, were very much into Star Trek. Maybe it has something to do with being a music major. Since I visited often with them, and they had their TVs on, I would watch some Star Trek by default. Somehow, I became interested.... and, as they say, the rest is history. I have since become a genuine Trekkie, though a state-bound and closeted one; I have yet to attend any conventions.

I do have other interests... and those are presented below.

There are eleven major sections here, each representing a portion -- or sphere, if you will -- of my life.
